Frequently Asked Questions

Who will be teaching this class?  Daren E. Miller.  I earned the CFA designation in 1999 and passed Level 2 on my first attempt while I was a buy-side economist for an institutional investor.  I'm a former CFA L3 grader and have been teaching the CFA Program full-time since 2001.

Should I do the readings before each class?  Yes.  By being prepared, you can ask questions on items that are challenging you.

What if I miss a class?  I encorage you to attend every class, and if you are unable to attend, I will let you know what you missed.  I will follow-up on absenses to hold you accountable to your study goals.

What will I get?  You will receive a PowerPoint slide deck for each class so you don't have to worry about taking notes.  I've done the note-taking for you!

Yikes!  Do you read from PowerPoint slides:  No, how boring! Unlike most other prep course providers, I don't just read from slide decks.  I engage with you so that you have fun while learning.

What to bring to class?  Your BA II Plus Professional calculator.  I recommend the "Pro" version because it has a couple of extra functions and you can easily replace the battery.

Will I get to practice what I learned in class?  Absolutely!  You will practice solving several exam-type questions and go over answer rationales with common exam traps to avoid.  My classes are exam focused, so you learn how to become confident under time pressure.

What if I have a question outside of class?  I moderate an exclusive, online community that brings together my clients from Calgary and around the world.  The community is organized by topics, so you can zero in on your sticking points.

I need a quiet place to study.  Can I use the classroom when it's not in use?  Yes!  I will be posting classroom study hours during class times.
